Something special is happening on the old pacer trains that still run in parts of the North East.
Between Darlington and Bishop Auckland, travellers can experience some local heritage during their journey. Our Line is an audio story that tells the story of how railways changed the lives of people in the area, as it follows a woman on a trip from station to station.
The railways play a huge part in the heritage of the North East. Discovering the stories of people who have used the trains over the years is a fantastic way to tie this history to the landscape, bringing it alive on a journey that has likely grown familiar and mundane for most regular passengers.
Travelling by train is something I love. It’s peaceful to sit with my headphones in and watch the landscape flash past, wondering about the lives of the people glimpsed along the way. Taking them with me on the journey is an intriguing prospect.
To listen to the story, passengers must download the app from the Jabberwocky Market website. The audio theatre performance will be available on Thursdays and Saturdays until Saturday 28 April, at 10:35am, 12:35pm and 6:05pm each day.
